Kilby Court
Kilby Court is located in Salt Lake City, Utah. It’s the longest running all-ages venue in SLC, and is known for its intimate and cozy atmosphere, providing a unique concert experience compared to larger venues. It holds up to 200 people, yet despite its small size, Kilby Court offers a stage area, a bar serving non-alcoholic beverages, and restroom facilities. The venue’s charm lies in its simplicity and rustic feel, and people love to leave their mark on the venue by bringing stickers to put on bars and walls.
Concert Experience
Attending a concert at Kilby Court is a more intimate experience compared to larger venues. You can expect to be close to the performers, with minimal barriers between the stage and the audience. The atmosphere is often described as laid-back and welcoming. It’s relaxed and inclusive atmosphere is a place where music lovers of all ages can come together to enjoy live performances. The venue often hosts up-and-coming indie bands and artists, contributing to its reputation as a hub for emerging talent. Big talents like Billie Eilish and Macklemore performed here when they started out in the music scene.
There is a sort of downside to this venue’s intimate feeling and size, though. When a sold out show happens, the people toward the backside of the venue can’t see much of the act unless they are tall. Since the stage is so short and there’s not barriers to keep the crowd back, the first couple rows have a fantastic view however, the further back you get, the harder it is to see. With that being said, if you are wanting to get a good view or are not very tall, it is recommended to go earlier and wait in line for doors to open so that you can see.
Tickets & Entry
Tickets for Kilby Court concerts can typically be purchased online in advance or at the door on the day of the show, depending on availability. Parking and Transportation
Kilby Court is located in a vibrant neighborhood with limited parking available nearby. Street parking may be an option, but it can fill up quickly, especially during peak hours. Public transportation, ridesharing services, or biking may be more convenient alternatives.
With the venue’s location in the Granary District, it is put within walking distance of various dining options, cafes, and bars. It’s also close to other popular attractions in downtown Salt Lake City, making it easy to explore the area before or after the concert. Sometimes the nearby business makes the parking easier, however other times all street parking and lots nearby will be full prior to the concert. The places I recommend checking for street parking are W 700 S and 400 W.
